When speaking at a health and nutrition conference back in 1997 George was approached by a leading animal feed formulations expert who explained the difficulties that he was experiencing with his feeds.  These difficulties boiled down to a need to improve animal health and feed performance naturally and at a lower cost. No easy feat!  George agreed to work on some formulations alongside the expert in order to find a solution using his expertise in antioxidants.  

Now, in order to understand how George achieved increasing feed performance naturally and at a low cost we have to return to his routes.  Born and raised in Southern Africa George learnt invaluable skills in making the best of the resources around you.  For example, medicines were not so readily available as they are now.  Therefore doctors had to come up with solutions from natural materials that were easily obtainable from the surrounding areas in order to combat illness.

George never forgot this and when he moved to the UK in the tail end of his teen years to study biochemistry he intended on applying this concept to the topics he studied.  The topic that caught his attention most when studying was antioxidants.  This is where he first saw the potential for his passions, nature and nutrition, to be combined in order to improve human and animal health.

But what are antioxidants and how can they be used to enhance animal feeds?  Antioxidants are materials that provide protection from oxidation.  They are commonly used to counteract the deterioration of foods including animal feed.  The second function of an antioxidant is what makes them so crucial in formulations today... It's their ability to support the animals natural systems which allow an animal to reach its full genetic potential.

This brings us back to our formulations expert and solving the issue of improved feed performance, animal health and achieving a notable ROI.  George was determined to create natural antioxidants as requested and due to the harmful effects associated with synthetic blends but was well aware of the dramatic difference in price between current natural options and synthetic.  In order to combat the prices he conducted many tests to find the best blends of natural antioxidant-rich materials to meet his criteria of improving animal health at a reduced cost.

After some time he achieved this and when he submitted the product for trialling the leading-expert was pleased as the results of the trail spoke for themselves! The company he represents does in fact still use this formulation today!
